Cox Powertrain are a leading design Engineering Company based on the South Coast. The Company has an opening for an enthusiastic Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer to work in our new offices located on the south coast

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain the PPAP database and ensure that the PPAPs are being reviewed and validated in a timely manner
  • Organize internal /external measurements necessary to validate the PPAP
  • Analyse the PPAP documentation and highlight if there is any information missing
  • Help suppliers developing Component Quality Plans and ensure the Component Quality Plans are updated when required
  • Maintain the Component Quality Plan Database
  • Raise Reject Notes and request 8D report from the supplier
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues
  • Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier quality issues
  • Collate and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain
  • Support process improvement activities at the supplier
  • Work with the supplier directly, create correction action plans to address process failures
  • Support the Internal Quality team to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments, suppliers and other service providers
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities
  • Undertake special projects as required
  • Willingness to travel in UK and internationally

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will:

Necessary knowledge and experience:

  • Experience within a Supplier Quality Engineering / Quality Engineer role in the automotive sector
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) is preferred
  • Metrology, Inspection Methods and Equipment
  • Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Understanding manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Planning and prioritising activities
  • Good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate efficiently throughout the shop floor and with own management
  • Listening skills
  • Ability to present data accurately and effectively
  • Team working skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of ISO45001/OHSAS18001
  • Understanding of ISO14001
  • Knowledge of TS16949 and ISO 9001 is preferred
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques
  • Problem-solving skills

Qualifications 

  • Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent and/or a recognized Quality Management qualification
