Cox Powertrain are a leading design Engineering Company based on the South Coast. The Company has an opening for an enthusiastic Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer to work in our new offices located on the south coast.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Drive APQP process for the given suppliers
  • Ensure PPAP readiness and validation in a time for SOP
  • Organize internal /external measurements necessary to validate the PPAP
  • Analyse the PPAP documentation and highlight if there is any information missing
  • Help suppliers developing Component Quality Plans and ensure the Component Quality Plans are updated when required
  • Help engineering department with generation of component specifications
  • Review drawings which are going in the approval process to ensure all the relevant details are captured
  • Maintain the Component Quality Plan Database
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues related to PPAPs
  • Perform supplier audits and on-site visits for APQP/PPAP activities
  • Support process improvement activities at the supplier
  • Work with the supplier directly, create correction action plans to address process failures
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments (especially with the system engineers), suppliers and other service providers
  • Report onto APQP progress for allocated parts on a weekly basis
  • Willingness to travel in UK and internationally

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will:

Necessary knowledge and experience:

  • Experience within a Supplier Quality Engineering / Quality Engineer role in the automotive sector
  • Experience of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) is mandatory
  • Previous powertrain experience would be an advantage
  • Metrology, Inspection Methods and Equipment
  • Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Understanding manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Planning and prioritising activities
  • Good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate efficiently throughout the shop floor and with own management
  • Listening skills
  • Ability to present data accurately and effectively
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Team working skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of ISO45001/OHSAS18001
  • Understanding of ISO14001
  • Knowledge of TS/IATF16949 and ISO 9001 is preferred
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques
  • Problem-solving skills

Qualifications 

  • Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent and/or a recognized Quality Management qualification
